The Mass. Memories Road Show (MMRS) at UMass Boston is an event-based public history project that digitizes family photos and memories shared by the people of Massachusetts. University Archives staff work with local planning teams to organize free public events where residents are invited to bring family photos to be scanned and included in this digital archive. Contributors are invited to share “the story behind the photos” on video, have their own “keepsake photo” taken, and receive advice from professional archivists and historians on dating and caring for their family photos.
To date, the project has digitized more than 4,000 photos and stories from across the state, creating an educational resource of primary sources for future generations. Over time, we hope to visit each of the 351 cities and towns in Massachusetts.

The Mass. Memories Road Show project is now part of Open Archives at UMass Boston (http://openarchives.umb.edu). We are in the process of transferring all of the Mass. Memories photos from www.massmemories.net into this new, searchable, online database. Below are links to the current online location for each of the Road Show collections to date. We will update this list as additional photos are transferred here to the new system. Thank you for your patience during this transition!
