This collection was donated to University Archives and Special Collections in the Joseph P. Healey Library at the University of Massachusetts Boston by Nelson Dionne in two separate accessions in March and June of 2015, and by Larry Finison on behalf of Nelson Dionne April 2015.
Original order was maintained. Folder titles were retained in most cases. Any unlabeled folders or notes that the archivist added to the folder title are indicated by brackets in the folder list. Paper clips were removed and replaced with a folded 8.5 x 11 piece of paper to maintain separation.
Nelson Dionne a retired Salem, Massachusetts police officer, and avid collector, donated his collection of bicycle materials related to the military, police and civilians to the University Archives and Special Collections in the Joseph P. Healey Library at the University of Massachusetts Boston. (1)

In the past, Dionne collected United States World War II military bikes (Columbia Victory & Paratrooper models, and an M-305); two wheelers, a liter carrier, a 1942 Harley WLA, a BSA M-20, and a 1954 ex USAF Simplex.
Dionne donated his large collection pertaining to Salem, Massachusetts history to the Salem State University Archives and Special Collections. In 2013, Dionne was awarded the Prize for Collecting Works on Paper by Historic New England (2).

Contains publications of League of American Wheelmen’s Bicycle USA, books on bicycling, clippings, police bike patrol patches, correspondence, national and international military bicycling postcards, police bike catalogs, articles about police bicycling, newsletters from the Wombats (Women's Mountain Bike and Tea Society) and their Massachusetts chapter (MassBats, c. 1994-1995).
